Meet Dr. Stebbins

Oxana Stebbins, Ph.D., LP

Dr. Oxana Stebbins is a licensed clinical psychologist and owner of the Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center. She serves as an adjunct professor at Regent University's Ph.D. program in Counseling and Psychological Studies. Dr. Stebbins completed specialized training in mood and anxiety disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) during her postdoctoral fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after completing an internship at the VA Ann Arbor/University of Michigan Healthcare System. She earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Seattle Pacific University, where she trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) with youth and their families at an OCD intensive outpatient program (IOP) at the Seattle Children's Hospital. During her doctoral studies, she trained in the Unified Protocol for the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders, specifically focusing on the assessment and treatment of a range of anxiety disorders and depression. She has also attended IOCDF's BTTI training in OCD.

Dr. Stebbins trained in the full model Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), emotion dysregulation, and suicidal behavior, and has worked with a range of other problem areas, including substance abuse, and conducted neuropsychological evaluations. She completed interventions for young children with behavioral problems through the Incredible Years program. She has worked in a variety of settings, including academic medical centers, primary care clinics, state hospital (Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity), and group practice settings. She has presented at several national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals, and continues to maintain scholarly engagement.

Therapeutic Approach
Therapy is active, present-focused, and goal-oriented. Values are incorporated as part of the goal-setting process. Following her transdiagnostic ("across disorders") training, Dr. Stebbins is an integrative cognitive behavioral therapist, seeing the connections between several therapeutic modalities for a range of disorders that all fit under the cognitive behavioral (CBT) umbrella, and she integrates these according to the needs of the client. Integrated therapeutic modalities within CBT include ERP, ACT, and DBT. She conceptualizes a "map" of the transdiagnostic mechanisms that maintain a client's problems, which serves as the treatment road map. Throughout treatment, the client's emotional experience is emphasized for optimal change, growth, and learning.
